• The Astros have renewed the contract of Justin Maxwell (’08) for the 2013 season when the team couldn’t reach a deal with the centerfielder who is not eligible for arbitration.
• The social media presale of single-game tickets are available starting this morning at 10 AM through the Senators Facebook and Twitter accounts. The general public can purchase individual game tickets beginning this Saturday. Prices for 2013 haven’t increased since last season except for the AYCE seats and they are as follows:

• One of the main combatants in this past Sunday’s bench-clearing brawl between Mexico and Canada was Oliver Perez (’11). “When fights go wild, anybody can get hurt and that can hurt your career,” Perez said from Mariners’ training camp, “But when you’re in there, it’s just reaction. You don’t want anybody to punch or push you. We’re humans. And in those moments, you just react.”
• Chien-Ming Wang (’11-’12) helped his chances of getting signed by a MLB team as he fired 12 scoreless innings in two games against Australia and Japan.
• The Netherlands is headed to the semi-finals as Shairon Martis (’06, ’08, ’11), Roger Bernadina (’07-’08), and Yurendell de Caster (’08) helped the Dutch score a walk-off 7-6 win over Cuba.
• Ross Detwiler (’09-’10) helped Team USA advance to the second round with his first career save as he fired four shutout innings to close out a 6-2 victory over Italy.
