The Senators used dominant pitching to hold the Reading bats all but silent in Harrisburg’s 4-0 victory.

In his third start of the young season, Blake Treinen looked like the pitcher that manager Matt LeCroy and pitching coach Paul Menhart saw during spring training. Treinen was aggressive early and worked ahead in the count as he scattered four hits over seven scoreless innings while striking out four. Neil Holland and Pat Lehman struck out the side in each of the final two innings to secure the victory and shutout.

The Senators used two-out rallies to get on the board first when Justin Bloxom singled home Anthony Rendon and again in the fourth inning when Sean Nicol dropped down a bunt that Reading pitcher David Buchanan threw away. Rendon added on to the 3-0 lead in the sixth inning when he launched a solo home run to dead centerfield just right of the flagpole. The four runs were more than enough on this night as the Senators notched their fourth straight win.

• Prior to the game, Jerad Head was reassigned to Syracuse to take the roster spot of Eury Perez who injured his wrist diving for a ball on Saturday. Outfielder Randolph Oduber and utility player Francisco Soriano were promoted to Harrisburg from Potomac as corresponding moves for Head’s departure and Souza’s stint on the disabled list.

• The Senators are now an undefeated 6-0 when they score first.

• Brian Goodwin and Jim Murphy both went hitless on the night ending their 9-game hitting streaks.

• Eric Fox made his first appearance in the third base coaches box this season.

• Twice the Senators got doubled up off of first base on failed hit and runs when the batters hit fly balls.
