• Many former Senators were involved in last Thursday’s doozy of a game in Syracuse between the Buffalo Bisons and Chiefs. The Bisons set numerous league and team records with their 27-9 blowout over the Triple-A affiliate of the Nationals. Leading the way for Buffalo were Jim Negrych (’12) who hit for the cycle and Luis Jimenez (’08) who scored four runs and drove in eight. On the losing side among others were Chris Marrero (’09-’10, ’12) who went 3 for 5 with three RBIs and Tanner Roark (’10-’11) who was saddled with the loss.
• Justin Maxwell (’08) suffered a broken hand when Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma hit the outfielder in his left hand and fractured the fifth metacarpal. For his part Maxwell remained upbeat, “It’s definitely – a play on words – a bad break. But we definitely got the team the win and I’m thankful for that. I trust in God’s plan and I’m not worried. I think I’ll be back on the field soon enough.”
• Don’t forget that there’s still time to sign up for the Senators 12th Annual 5K on Saturday, May 25th. The first 100 participants receive t-shirts and proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania.
