Caleb Clay was selected as the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week on the basis of his impressive two starts for the Senators. On Monday, Clay shut down the Reading Fightin Phils for only one run on five hits over 6.1 innings while striking out a career-high nine batters. Saturday night Clay fired the first nine-inning, complete-game shutout in the Eastern League this season as he blanked the Trenton Thunder 2-0. Once again, the mild-mannered righthander struck out nine batters as he allowed three hits and had only one runner reach second base.
