Senators 11, Aeros 2
The Senators secured a series sweep when they broke out the brooms with an 11-2 victory over the Akron Aeros on Wednesday afternoon. Taylor Hill made his Double-A debut and impressed with seven strong innings where he scattered four hits, allowed one run, and struck out four. Jimmy VanOstrand and Brian Goodwin each slugged three-run home runs in the winning effort.
* Hill ran into trouble in the fourth inning but worked out of a bases-loaded jam to prevent further damage. In his first start at Harrisburg, Hill threw 1-2-3 innings in five of the seven innings he tossed. The start was his fifth straight allowing one run or less and working at least six innings.
* The victory moved the Senators to eight games over .500 for the first time since last July 8th when they were 48-40.
* This was only the fourth time the Senators have scored in double-digits this season. It was a balanced attack as seven players recorded a hit, eight scored at least one run, and six drove in at least one run.
* Besides the announcement of the EL All-Star Game rosters, Taylor Jordan was also the only Nationals minor leaguer named to the 2013 Futures Game played at Citi Field two days prior to this year’s MLB All-Star Game.
