Steven Souza Jr. fell about ten feet short of a homer on his final swing and had to settle for second place in the Eastern League All-Star Home Run Derby behind winner Caleb Joseph of the Bowie Baysox.

Hitters earned points by surpassing targets that earned 10, 20 or 30 points for various distances in the outfield and 50 for each home run. Souza was the final hitter of the competition and needed a home run on his last swing to top Joseph. The Senators outfielder accumulated 300 points and finished ahead of Altoona’s Jarek Cunningham and Binghamton’s Allan Dykstra among others.
