Danny Espinosa (2010 – .262/.334/.464, 99 G, 66 R, 54 RBI, 16 2B, 4 3B, 20 HR, 20 SB)
Coming off a strong showing in the Arizona Fall League, Espinosa was assigned to Class AA Harrisburg out of Spring Training in 2010. Espinosa quickly showcased the tools (mostly the power and great defense of a middle infielder) that impressed so many the previous season in Potomac and the AFL.
The 2008 third-round draft pick of the Nationals carried Randy Knorr’s Senators through the summer where they overcame an early 11-18 record to eventually make the playoffs in the last series of the regular season.
But Espinosa would be long gone by then as the shortstop was promoted to Triple-A on August 4th after hitting three home runs in one game at Binghamton. Once rosters expanded on September 1, Espinosa made his MLB debut for the Nationals and played 28 games to close out the season.
