Senators teammates Anthony Rendon and Paul Demny took home this week’s honors from the Eastern League by being named the Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period of May 6th through May 12th.
Rendon was selected for his torrid offensive production over the last seven days in which he has batted .500 (12 for 24) with six doubles, two home runs, scored five runs, drove in eight, and had multi-hit games five times. Despite his two-week absence while he was on the Nationals’ Major League roster, Rendon leads the Eastern League in batting average (.354), on-base percentage (.500), and slugging (.633).
Demny was selected for his outing on Thursday night in Binghamton when he combined with Ian Krol to throw the fourth no-hitter in the history of the modern-day Senators. Demny worked eight innings without allowing a base hit while striking out five.
