Senators 8, SeaWolves 2
(PR) Marshall Kelner / Erie, PA – Josh Johnson, Jeff Howell, and Destin Hood all hit solo home runs to lead the Harrisburg Senators to an 8-2 rain-shortened victory over the Erie SeaWolves in seven innings. The Senators are now on a season-long five game winning streak after taking their second consecutive game in Erie.
The Sens jumped on SeaWolves starter Matt Crouse right away with a three-run first inning. Johnson was the second batter of the game and launched his fourth home run of the season. Justin Bloxom came through with a two-run single.
Howell’s long ball came in the second and made it 4-0. After Erie cut the lead to 4-2 with single runs in the second and third, the Senators responded with one in the fourth, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth.
In addition to his home run, Hood drove in a pair with a double. Anthony Rendon also picked up an RBI on a sacrifice-fly. Ricky Hague continued his hot hitting with his seventh consecutive multi-hit game. Jerad Head was 3-for-4 with two doubles.
With the Senators batting in the top of the seventh inning, the game went into a rain delay. Play was halted for one hour and 18 minutes before it was called.
Caleb Clay pitched a six-inning complete game to earn his fourth win. The right-hander gave up five hits and just one earned run. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out three.
On Wednesday morning, the Senators continue their four-game series in Erie against the SeaWolves. Game time is 11:05 a.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it’s available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 10:50 a.m.
