SeaWolves 8, Senators 6

(PR) Marshall Kelner / Erie, PA – After an early rain delay of nearly two and a half hours, the Senators rallied late but fell to the Erie SeaWolves 8-6.

The two teams played for less than 30 minutes before the delay began in the bottom of the second inning. After two hours and 29 minutes, play resumed and Erie quickly scored on a sacrifice-fly by Luis Castillo to take the lead.

The Senators responded immediately with a four-run third inning, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of Josh Johnson. Eugenio Suarez’s solo homer in the bottom of the inning cut Harrisburg’s lead to 4-2. Suarez had four hits in the game and came a triple short of the cycle.

The SeaWolves exploded for a four-run inning of their own in the fifth and added single runs in the sixth and eighth to take a commanding 8-4 lead into the ninth. The Senators made a charge, drawing five walks and scoring two runs, but stranded the bases loaded to end the game.

On Friday, the Senators return home to open a four-game series against the Reading Fightin Phils at Metro Bank Park. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it’s available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m.
